In return for going out with work collegues last night, I said that Beccy could have some girls over for the evening and that her best friend could then stay over. They had asked if I would also take them to a car boot sale - about 30 mins down the road. I don't do car boot sales, they always seem to be full of tat and grumpy people. But, I said I would take them.
Who knew that I would come back with this ugly thing
It's a rocking chair, not on rockers, but on sliders
When Jenny and I saw it, we both fell in love with it: I have wanted one of these forever. I didn;t think there would be any point asking how much, as I figured it would be well out of my price range
£15!
Jenny has already sanded it down and the first, base, layer of paint is already on. It looks completely different already. I can't wait to get those cushions recovered. I will post an 'after' pic as soon as it is all complete.
This week hasn't seen any sewing machine time, but I did start and finish a Christmas Rose Star
I love these rose stars and even more so in Christmas material! I think I will make another two and turn it in to a kind of wall hanging: at some point!
I shall ignore that you have made something in a Christmas fabric while it is still September (!) and congratulate you on a great boot sale score. Can't wait to see how it looks after some TLC and Tiptree magic!
Great bargain buy! I'm hoping my bargain rocker isn't getting too mouldy in the garage, can't wait to pimp it up in the new house :-) Your C........ Star looks very pretty, I couldn't quite bring myself to use the word ;-)
Pretty Rose Star! I have five made up in purples, aquas and greens. There were paper pieced and I'm a little bored with that part, so am thinking about using them in a small quilt along with another big star block (undetermined pattern). Just found your blog - cute!

ReplyDeleteOh good buy! I am always impressed when people do that, find a deal and turn it from ugly to desirable. Never managed it myself though - yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bargain! I love the chase of finding some treasure. Charity shops always beckon me in! Di x
