I kept the quilting fairly simple as it was such a large quilt and have used a plain yellow to bind it with
BUT... I am disappointed as there are two bits of fabric where the seam allowance (aka my sewing skills) are non existent. This quilt was fiddly to make and in these two areas I obviously didn't match up my two fabrics correctly and the fabric has frayed a little. I have sewn over it, very neatly I hope, so I know it won't fray any more, but I am really disappointed with myself
Although it was fiddly, I think the pattern is fabulous and I really am tempted to make one of these for myself: although I am not sure where on earth it would go!!
its gorgeous, I love the fabrics, don't be too hard on yourself it's part of it all being *handmade* :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Don't be hard on yourself as no one is going to examine it that closely. Brilliant finish. Di x
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful and the little seam issue is resolved so there is nothing to be disappointed about. Congratulations on the finish too.
ReplyDeleteYeah - what everyone else said. My experience of children is that they don't inspect anything too closely - I think they will just love your quilt as it is stunning :)
ReplyDeleteHey, nothing wrong with a bit of character!!
ReplyDeleteYou did great, and you know it will be loved xxx
Snap on the finish. Love your quilt and we all have those seam allowance moments. I am sure your fix will do the job and I KNOW the quilt will be loved.
ReplyDeleteit is such a beautiful quilt - you did a grand job x
ReplyDeleteWell done C! I'm pretty sure the willing recipient of this gorgeous quilt won't be noticing any errant seams! Jxo
ReplyDeleteSometimes we concentrate so hard on one thing it's easy to miss something. It looks great. An awesome accomplishment for sure
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Catherine. I understand your annoyance with the fraying - it's happened to me a couple of times when I've had very scant seams - I ended up handstitching them closed with matching thread, and they're really not noticeable now :o)
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up Catherine, it's a lovely quilt and we learn something from every one we make.x
ReplyDeleteIt is so beautiful! I love the colours and prints you chose.
ReplyDeleteit is beautiful and that has happened to us all I am sure. It is fixed and certainly won't be noticed at all I am sure. Remember it is not about perfection! x
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! Unique fraying technique, I think that makes it even MORE SPECIAL!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and I like the way you've fixed the seam problem!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Does have to have a place to go? Or is it me that just makes them because I love it!
