FAL Q2 list

So, it's time to link up with the 2nd quarter FAL!

I have this project that, I think, may have been carried over every quarter since the beginning of the FAL.  It is well under way to being finished and looks a little different now

My double wedding ring quilt - this just needs a border and to be finished.  I need to decide how I am going to do the border. I am not confident of finishing this as I think the border will take a while and I have big plans for quilting this

My Siblings together quilt - I am sewing the binding on at the moment, so this is a guaranteed finish

My Hipbee quilt - all finished, it just needs some wadding and to be quilted

and finally, I think some more of this Epp, I think I will go for a small quilt

It seems like a lot, but I am confident of at least two finishes in the very near future, and most of the other projects are well under way already. So, fingers crossed

24 little hours

What a difference a day makes. 

I have blanket stitched 3 of the circles, just the big one to go. And I am loving it

I have painted the bathroom ceiling - a bit of balancing was required

And I went out for lunch with my friend and this gorgeous girl

And finally, a friend of mine, over the pond, had a baby girl today. What a great day

Frustrating

Today has been somewhat frustrating. A day when nothing goes to plan and there is very little to show for the work you've done!

I decided that today would be the day to tackle these

I did OK with sewing them up and sewing the curves, ( and thank heavens for Leanne's amazing  video) but thanks to me messing up the measurements it took ages and then I just wasn't feeling it. So I unpicked.

I am much happier with how this is going to go. And to be finally using these curves-I think they may have been on the very 1st FAL post over a year ago! I had thought I could make these in to something for le-challenge, but I now don't have the time. I decided to enter something else, but having started it, I hate it, so that won't happen either!

I did get some happy mail this week-I cashed in my mothers day promise

A Hug

Just in the nick of time I got this little quilt finished.  Jenny took it over to her friend to give to her daughter - and it also happens to be her birthday.  Apparantley she has been 'wearing' it all day

The little girl that it has gone to has lost her daddy recently, so I wanted to make it as a big hug for her.  It was made from scraps that I had and I finished it off with some more straight line quilting.

           

And what a difference a day or so makes.  On Sunday, I sat in the conservatory and had breakfast in the lovely sunshine.  Today (admitidley it was earlier) it was a lot chillier: but hey: the sun was still shining! (even if I was at work all day) 

            

March review time

Having just posted my finishes for the FAL, its now time to show my March finishes and link up with Lynnes fresh sewing day

I do feel as though I have achieved a lot in March, although mostly in the WIP department. 
Actual finishes were only two cushions, one for my mum and one for a friend

But behind the scenes I have been busy with these:
quilting my siblings together quilt

I finished sewing down my DWR rings and am in the process of auditioning for the border

 I got the border sewn on to my Hipbees quilt

and made a couple of bee blocks as well

And, finally, I also finished EPP'ing this block, which may end up as a cushion, or if I can find the right fabrics, may well be one of several blocks, with a view to a quilt

1st quarter FAL... already!

Back in January I declared my intentions for the first quarter of the Finish along hosted by Leanne

I had five projects that I listed and only managed to get two done, although another two are well on their way to completion

This was my first finish which you can read about here

This quilt was made for a work collegue who is going through chemo at the moment.  I found out since I made this quilt that she had recently decorated her bedroom - purple.  How serendipitous was that then! She is undergoing number 4 out of 6 chemo this week and is doing well


And here is my 2nd finish

This was an orphan block that had been lying around far too long.  I made it in to a cushion cover and sent it off to a friend I have known forever, but rarely get to see (although, we are meeting up in London in a few weeks!).  She is always saying nice things about my sewing when I (occasionally) post pictures on to twitter.

So, 2 out of 5: not so bad.  I have high hopes for next quarter, as I have so many things that need finishing!!

Quilted

I have a lot of plans for this Easter weekend, lots of things I need to do and finish off. 

I started off with basting my siblings quilt - this was a job that needed furniture to be moved

I started yesterday and got finished today

 I just did nice, easy and quick straight line quilting through the stars

The back of the quilt shows it a little better



I really am pleased with how this has turned out.  Its not perfect: the stars don't all align perfectly and a few other minor things, but I don't think you really see that. As long as it makes someone happy then that's perfect

Tonight I will be sewing the binding on this, having quilted this one today as well (it's not big).  I quilted this one in exactly the same way.  Jenny is going to see her friend on Tuesday, so I want it all done for her to take

 Tomorrow I am cooking lunch - mum is coming over, as are the boyfriends (teenagers boyfriends, not me!)  They are both lovely, so I am looking forward to it.
